Northern Haserot is a full line foodservice distributor, specializing in center-of-the-plate. Family owned since 1878, Northern Haserot is an industry leader in custom cut, quality meats, seafood and produce.

Our leadership in these categories is supported by a USDA federally inspected meat facility, a HAACP fresh seafood processing plant and a "Certified Safe" produce operation. We take extreme measures and care in delivering wholesome, secure and safe food products from our facilities to our customers.
In addition to our excellence in center-of-the-plate, we also offer complete lines of canned goods, frozen foods, paper products, chemicals, equipment and supplies, among other staples. Our membership in UniPro enables us to procure the highest quality products at the best prices.
With three distribution centers, 150 Distributor Sales consultants and a fleet of 125 refrigerated trucks serving five states, Northern Haserot offers timely service in most major Midwest markets.

Where We've Come From...
Northern Haserot and its affiliate companies, C.A. Curtze and JFS Foodservice, have a long and storied history spanning over 140 years:

1878 - Charles August Curtze opened his wholesale business, C.A. Curtze in Erie, Pa., supplying foods and other merchandise to retail merchants, as well as oil and lumber camps of that era. Flour, sugar, spices, coffee and canned goods, as well as gun powder and kerosene were the staples of the day.

1966 – Northern Frozen Foods, a frozen food distributor based in Cleveland, Ohio is acquired.

1968 – General Meats, which would them become Specialty Steak Service, a USDA meat processing facility supplying portion controlled meats to the foodservice industry, is acquired.

1976 – Haserot Grocery Company, founded in 1889, is acquired by Northern Frozen Foods. The new company is renamed Northern Haserot and is based in shared facility on the near west side of downtown Cleveland.

1985 – Brandt Meats, founded in 1884, is acquired by Northern Haserot

1990 – Driven by strong growth, Northern Haserot moves into a new warehouse facility to support continued growth and customer expectations.

2002 - JFS Foodservice is acquired supporting an expansion into the upstate New York Market.
Today the fourth and fifth generations of the Kern family continue to operate Northern Haserot and its affiliate companies as the leading independent foodservice distributors in the Midwest and Mid Atlantic.
